2024 Genesis Electrified GV70

Genesis
The 2024 Electrified GV70 derives its foundation from the GV70, much like a remixed jazz hit made from a sampled song. Genesis has replaced the combustion engines in the gasoline-powered model with two electric motors that can produce 483 horsepower. Under the seats is a 77.4-kWh battery pack that can store enough electrons for an estimated 236-mile driving range. While the range of a Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV or a Cadillac Lyriq is greater, the Genesis’s DC fast-charging feature makes it relatively simple to top off the cells at a public charger.

The Electrified GV70’s interior is roomy and equipped with thoughtful technology and premium materials; the only feature lacking is a wireless connection for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This is a remix that stays true to the original, and considering how good the gasoline-powered GV70 is, we believe the Electrified GV70 will be a hit song. Both of these models are deserving of a spot on our lists of the 2024 Editors’ Choice and 10 best Trucks and SUVs.

A few of the 2024 Genesis Electrified GV70’s greatest attributes

The Genesis GV70 Electrified: What’s New in 2024?

Very few changes have been made to the Electrified GV70 for 2024; however, a Wi-Fi hotspot is now standard on all models, and five new colors—Uyuni White, Matterhorn White, Alta White, Capri Blue, and Cardiff Green—have been added.

Genesis EV Motor, Power, and Performance Enhanced GV70

The Electrified GV70 comes equipped with all-wheel drive as standard. To generate its 483 horsepower total, the vehicle uses two motors, one on each axle. At our test track, the Electrified GV70 reached 60 mph in a mere 3.8 seconds, making it the fastest iteration of Genesis’s small SUV. When we tested the standard 2022 GV70 with the optional twin-turbocharged V-6, it took 4.9 seconds to reach 60 mph. The Electrified GV70 provides a smooth ride and feels light on its feet in turns, just like its gas-powered sibling. The brake-pedal feel of the SUV, which seems inconsistent when switching from regenerative to friction braking, is our main grievance with its road manners.

Battery life, charging time, and range of the Genesis Electrified GV70

The 77.4-kWh battery pack that powers the Electrified GV70 is standard and can go up to 236 miles on a single charge, according to the EPA. The Electrified GV70 traveled 190 highway miles during our testing before requiring a recharge. Fortunately, the SUV has a quick onboard charger with a maximum DC charging capacity of 240 kW. According to Genesis, at a public charging station, that is fast enough to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in less than 20 minutes.

Genesis GV70 Electrified for Comfort, Interior, and Cargo

The interior of the electrified GV70 is identical to that of its gasoline-powered sibling, so it boasts an elegant interior with a similarly striking design. We appreciate how the exterior’s flowing lines blend seamlessly into the interior. The interior is decorated with high-quality materials, and the knurled glass shift knob adds a luxurious touch. The cargo space is almost the same as the gas model, and the interior space is suitable for the compact-SUV class. Seven carry-on bags and 22 total with the rear seats folded can fit behind the seats.

Genesis’s GV70 of Connectivity and Infotainment Electrified

Proudly situated on the dashboard is a sizable widescreen infotainment display that is capable of operating the most recent software interface from Genesis. While both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard, none of them support wireless connections. A Wi-Fi hotspot is standard on all models, but an optional premium Lexicon stereo system is also offered.

Genesis GV70 Electrified with Driver-Assist and Safety Features

Every Electrified GV70 model comes equipped with a comprehensive set of driver-assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and automated emergency braking. Visit the websites of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for additional details regarding the Electrified GV70’s crash test results.

Coverage for Warranty and Maintenance on the Genesis Electrified GV70

Compared to most other luxury automakers, the Genesis brand offers exceptional warranty coverage that lasts significantly longer. The GV70 has free scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles and powertrain coverage for up to ten years or 100,000 miles. While the Jaguar I-Pace’s bumper-to-bumper coverage and longer free maintenance are comparable to the Genesis’, the Genesis’ powertrain policy is almost half as long.
