Honda’s introduction at the EICMA show in Milan of the redesigned 2024 CB650R and its fully faired twin, the CBR650R, is certainly an exciting step for motorcycle enthusiasts. The updated design and addition of a new TFT dash demonstrate a commitment to both modern and aesthetics.But the inclusion of Honda’s E-Clutch option is what sets this apart. This innovation promises a level of versatility never seen before by giving riders the choice of classic clutch engagement via the lever or clutchless operation. The CB650R and CBR650R share mechanical similarities with the previous year’s models thanks to its 649cc inline four-cylinder engine and steel-tube chassis. Peak power remains constant at 12,000 rpm, staying at 94 bhp. Maximum torque is limited by Honda’s HSTC traction-control system at 46.5 lb.-ft. at 9,500 rpm. The bike’s suspension is also original, consisting of standard 310mm rotors with ABS and Tokico four-pot radial-mount front brakes, together with 41mm Showa SFF-BP forks and corresponding shocks.
